Character Notes
- Ari is the more rationally-driven of the two, as opposed to his brother's more emotional state. It's difficult to make him panic, though he can be quite intense and often thinks the worst of things. Likewise, Amasis is the only person who's ever experienced him crying.
- Despite that rationality, he's prone to becoming irrationally irritable towards people he dislikes, even when they're not actually doing anything irritating. He can hold his temper quite well, but he will freely snipe at them verbally.
- He's very stubborn, but also quite proud. While he can stand up to a lot of punishment, humiliation hurts him a lot more.
- Because of their 'reward', Ari has a very low opinion of gods.
- He's very protective of his brother, sometimes overly so. He can get frustrated with him at times, but he blames their 'curse' for that.
- As the more physical of the two, Ari wields a sword. When reinforced by his brother's magic, he's capable of dual-wielding, but he only occasionally has two swords to hand. Amasis' magic also enchants his sword so that they burn, freeze or cause other types of extra damage, making wounds more dangerous to the opponent. This is a short term effect, but can be chained if Amasis has enough energy.
- He has preferences as to the types of sword he uses, but he's used to working with what they can get. This often means the swords he's wielding don't come up to the quality he'd prefer.
- He's an alchemist by trade, capable of mixing some quite unusual potions. He tends to slip into a rhythm while mixing and gets startled easily while within it.
- Ari can be very frugal, but this is more of a learned trait due to years of difficulty earning money. He enjoys luxury and comfort if it comes, and is a little weak to comfort in particular, but he so rarely has any chance to experience it that it doesn't really factor into his thoughts a lot. If asked, the one thing he would love to have more than anything else is a super comfortable bed, but since they tend to move around a lot, he doubts it'll ever happen.
- He has a fondness for lightning storms.
- In contrast, he's not fond of oceans and dislikes travelling on ships.
- Whenever he wears jewelry, it's usually because it has some meaning to him.
- His brother is the only person in the world that matters to him, beyond even himself. As long as he's with him, he's happy, no matter what way their relationship turns. Despite this, he gets offended easily if others make accusations towards them, because he feels like they're mocking his brother.
- Like his brother, he grew up in a fairly hot place and has a good tolerance for heat. However, his night alignment means that he has a preference for cooler temperatures.
- Because of his night alignment, he can see in the dark, but has difficulty coping with sudden lighting.
- He dislikes sleeping during the day. The light interferes with his ability to sleep well.
- Thanks to their lifestyle, he's used to eating whatever they can get. He can choke down things he hates without squirming (outwardly) if he has to. However, he has a preference for foods with a variety of complementing spices, and he especially enjoys strongly spiced food.
- He dislikes chickpeas, but has a fondness for cucumbers and tomatoes.
- When it comes to desserts, sweeter is better. He doesn't get them often, though. He's especially fond of things with honey or syrup.
- While Amasis tends to cook for them using his vision, Ari insisted on learning from him so that he could help out.
- His favourite colors are black, very deep blue, and gold.
- He's fairly organized and doesn't like excessive mess (though he can tolerate it to an extent).
- Ari has no patience for overly formal clothing. He prefers neat but casual clothing.
